Refresh feeds/Cancel refresh
Refresh all feeds. Remember that feeds can be individually selected not to be included. Cancel is available when any refresh is in progress.
Add group
Groups of three types can be added. The Add button will add a Regular group unless the arrow is clicked, in which case you have three options:
– Regular (group)
Regular groups are used for organizing feeds according to personal preferences.
You should change the default New Group name to something more sensible and next to it there is a drop-down list of the existing groups, where you can position your new one. The default "LAST" places it at the end of the list. You can change this later on, using drag & drop.
When you add a new group you have the option to add any of the existing feeds to it using drag and drop or double click. The ones you do not want, you simply do not add. If you added one and changed you mind, you can drag and drop it back.
– Search (group)
Search groups are used to search feeds for articles with certain properties.
When the Group options windows comes up, the textbox of the Search Text is focused and the Search group name defaults to the search text, unless you change. You can search on flagged status, unread status, date of article, and text in article within a specified group of feeds. New feeds are included in existing search groups by default. You can define whether you want the body, title, tag searched and whether you want your search to be case sensitive. The Search group will contain all the articles that contain the search text and results are highlighted in bold red within the article.
Basic boolean operators or equivalents can be used:
AND: AND is the default operator.
Example: newsfox rss
will search for articles containing both 'newsfox' and 'rss'.
OR: |, OR, or
Example: newsfox OR rss
will search for articles containing either 'newsfox' or 'rss'.
NOT: '-'
Example: newsfox -rss
will search for articles containing 'newsfox' but not 'rss'.
Items in single or double quotes are kept intact so the search text can contain spaces.
Example: 'Sharon Stone', "Sharon Stone"
will not find Sharon removed a stone from her shoe.
Combination:
Example: (abc xyz) | -"--"
will search for articles containing both 'abc' and 'xyz' or not containing '--'.
– Tag (group)
Tag groups list all articles with a given tag. If there are no tags, then you can only see the New Tag... command, where you can define a new tag. If there are existing tags, they are listed above the New Tag... command. This is referred to as tag list.
Delete group
The Delete group button will delete a group of any type.
Add feed
Feeds of two types can be added. The add button will add a RSS/Atom feed unless the arrow is clicked, in which case you have two options.
– RSS/Atom (feed)
These are the usual feeds to read.
– Storage (feed)
These feeds can be used to archive articles. Removing articles from RSS/Atom feeds will improve performance.
Delete feed
The Delete feed button will delete a feed of any type.
