Behaviour of storage feedsWhen the article that is copied to a Storage feed has a 'category', the category shows up in the Storage feed, too. Is this on purpose or would it be a pain in the neck to try and remove it? They show up in the exported RSS feed, too. It is somewhat annoying, but I'm just curious. And I know that I can edit the feed. :-) Also, when a group is selected, articles have Storage feed icons, but when the feed is selected, they have their original icons. Articles in regular feeds do not have icons when a feed is selected. A little bit inconsistent and I have to know what to write in the Wiki. :-) |
Re: Behaviour of storage feeds
Some people are really into categories(not me). I assumed they would want the categories copied over when put into storage feeds. I think there might be objection if it was removed, but we could think about providing some way to turn it off.
When a group is selected, the icon in the title row shows the feed that the article came from.
When a feed is selected, the icon in the title row shows the source for the article or is blank if the feed provides no source. The source comes from the <source> tag in either Atom or RSS feeds. An example feed with sources: http://www.google.com/reader/public/atom/user/14480565058256660224/state...
Showing the source predates the source column in the title-pane and I agree it is somewhat inconsistent, but only with the group presentation - not with other feeds. But where is is mostly useful is with storage feeds - I find it useful to have the icon of the feed where the article originated(which is in the storage feed's <source> tag).
It's great all the work you're putting in on the Wiki, but it may have the side effect that from time to time I miss a comment you make in the forums! I just look down the recent changes and your forum comments may just slide in with the Wiki changes. Sorry.
