Background check and notify for new items even when window is closed

I Love this extension, but the one feature I miss from it is that it apparently only checks and notifies of new items when the Newsfox window/viewer is open - it doesn't check the RSS feeds on background when the newsfox window is closed, and for me the point of RSS is that the news should get to me, not that I should reach for the news - if I have to open the newsfox window to see if there's news, then I might as well just open the webpage that feeds the RSS.

So, that's my feature request: Notifying of updated items even the newsfox window is closed. At first I thought this could be easy to do, but thinking again, it might not, since notifying of new items with the newsfox window closed actually involves the whole feed check mechanism to be running on the background all the time Firefox is running, and I guess this creates a resource usage problem. Then again, it may not, I don't know... My suggestion, to partition a possible resource usage problem is to develop another extension that integrates to Newsfox that does only notifying.

Too much work? I hope not... :-P

Current NewsFox developers are probably not interested. See bug#18289.

Someone else could do it. You'd basically be making a NewsFox that always loads whether you ask it to or not, and only sometimes shows the user interface. Given how small you can make the user interface(make your usual homepage(s) and NewsFox be your home session and ignore the NewsFox tab), there doesn't seem much point.
